10 Reasons Why You Should Follow Your Dreams

Why it's important to follow your dreams, how to follow your dreams, follow your dreams, why you should follow your dreams, be a dreamer, advice on how to follow your dreams, inspiration to follow your dreams, follow your dreams blog post
I'm a dreamer. I'm a BIG dreamer. As a child I was told to reach for the sky and follow my dreams, but as an adult I'm told to get my head out of the clouds. Well, my dreams are intact and my head remains firmly in the clouds and I'm going to tell you why you should never stop following your dreams. (queue kick-ass music)

Everyone has dreams. Whether it be landing that dream job, starting a business, finding happiness or falling in love, we all dream. The difference is some choose to accept reality and others go out and chase it.

I'm not going to divulge exactly what my dreams are (I'll let you know when I reach them) but I'm on the road to achieving them and here are ten reasons why it's important to follow yours.

1. You could be right around the corner from it

You might feel like a million miles away from achieving your dream, but never let that stop you from working towards it because you could be so close to reaching it. The day you talk yourself out of it could be the day before you made it, so be patient and never stop chasing it.

2. Ask yourself, can I live my entire life knowing I didn't try it?

If the answer is no, then do not give up. When I'm unsure whether I should pursue something, I imagine myself when I'm old looking back on my life and think, would I regret it if I didn't go after it? If the answer is yes then I make a point to definitely do it because I know it's a chance worth taking. If you want to make it happen, you'll find a way, if you don't, you'll find an excuse.

3. You get one life. ONE.

There ain't no second chances or do-overs, we get one ride on this crazy rollercoaster called life so make it count. In saying that, it's never too late to follow your dreams. If you think, 'I'm too old now' or 'I should of done it when I was younger', that should never put you off. In the least morbid way possible, it's only too late when you're dead, so go get em!

4. You can achieve it, and you will achieve it

If you want something bad enough in this world, you can get it. There are ways and means to get to where you want to be. You can be anything in this world, anything at all, you just have to be persistent and work hard enough and you will get there. You might think, but there are so many reasons why I can't do what I really want to do, the great thing about problems is that there are always solutions. Find the solutions, solve the problems and you're on your way to achieving your dream.

5. The only person who needs to believe in you is YOU

As long as you believe in yourself, you will get to where you want to be in life. You don't need people to tell you you can make it, you decide the life you live and only you have the power to make change. Once your mind is set on a goal, no one can stop you from achieving it. The only things you'll regret in life are the chances you didn't take.

6. You have potential to achieve greatness

Chances are that if you're passionate about something you'll want to be successful in it and all you need to unlock that potential is the drive to start working towards it now. You could be the best at what you want to be and your determination will bring you to the top. You can live the life you've always wanted, nobody is stopping you. Nothing ventured nothing gained.

7. You could be the person telling others to achieve their dream

Think two years down the line. If you start now, you could be the person explaining to others how you achieved your dream and got to where you want to be. You can inspire other people by having the courage to be different from everyone else and take the road less travelled.

8. If worst comes to worst, you can start over again

If you're scared that your dream is too risky or it's impossible to achieve, the only way to know is to try. The worst that can happen is that it doesn't work out the first time and you go back to doing what you're doing now, nothing bad comes out of trying. And if it doesn't work out, come at it from a different angle and try again.

9. Show everyone that you can be the best

Prove everyone wrong. Prove yourself wrong. All those doubts you have swimming around in your head, shut them out and show the world how much you have to offer. Only a small percent of people actually go after their dreams, be part of that percentage.

10. It gives you something to live for

I spend 90% of everyday working towards my dream (the other 10% is spent sleeping and eating). People who follow their passions tend to be obsessed with them. It creates a fire within you. I can't imagine a world where I just give up and accept the life around me. I wake up with drive and ambition every single day and even in the face of adversity I never give up. You will have so much more to live for when you start doing what you know you're meant to do.

I can't stress enough how important it is to follow your dreams. Make yourself proud  and when you look back on your life, you'll be able to thank yourself for going through with it and following your dream. Find the motivation and create a beautiful life for yourself.

  9. Couldn't agree more with all the points especially number 8. We're still young so it's okay to fail and start over again. That's how most successful people become the person they are now, right?
